Lyrics
[Intro] [Twelve clay jars pouring water on stone altar & descending fire surge]
First Kings chapter eighteen, verses thirty to thirty-nine.
'How long will you waver between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow Him!'
[Verse 1] [Fingerpicked Acoustic & Heavy Cello]
Four hundred and fifty prophets of Baal shouted till the noon
Slashing themselves with knives and swords beneath the blazing sun
No voice, no answer, no fire fell upon their wooden pyre
While Elijah stood alone, clad in prophetic attire
'Come near to me,' he called aloud to all the watching crowd
He took twelve stones for Israel's tribes and raised the altar proud
He dug a trench around the stones
laid wood and sacrifice
And poured twelve jars of water down, not once, nor twice, but thrice!
[Pre-Chorus] [Felt Piano & String Quartet Swell]
The trench was overflowing, the altar soaked and cold
While Elijah prayed in quiet faith to the God of old
[Chorus] [Dramatic Sacred Fire Drop]
Twelve jars of water poured upon the rebuilt altar of God
Proving that the living Lord is sovereign, true and broad!
The fire of Elohim fell down, consuming wood and stone
Licking up the water in the trench before the throne!
The people fell upon their face: 'The Lord
He is our God!'
Following the holy path the faithful prophets trod!
[Verse 2] [Acoustic Guitar & Tenor Lead]
He prayed upon the mountain top, bowing toward the ground
Until a cloud like a man's hand brought the heavy rainstorm sound
The drought was broken, the sky turned black, the living waters fell
Proving that the God of Israel does all things pure and well
[Bridge] [Soaring Tenor Belt & Full Sacred Choir]
Oh, tear down the altars of Baal and every false decree!
The God who answers by fire reigns for all eternity!
Faith that soaks the sacrifice, faith that calls the silence!
Giving all the glory to our Maker's holy Name!
[Chorus] [Full Grand Fire Climax]
Twelve jars of water poured upon the rebuilt altar of God
Proving that the living Lord is sovereign, true and broad!
The fire of Elohim fell down, consuming wood and stone
Licking up the water in the trench before the throne!
The people fell upon their face: 'The Lord
He is our God!'
Following the holy path the faithful prophets trod!
[Outro] [Rain Pouring on Carmel & Soft Piano]
First Kings eighteen...
The Lord, He is God! Amen.
